Who Can Be In the Cast for the Hutt Valley Gang Show?
If you are interested in music, singing, dancing, acting, entertaining or the theatre then Gang Show is for you! No previous Gang Show or theatrical experience is required – just loads of enthusiasm and a modicum of talent. And don’t worry – only those who want to will have solo parts.
Only uniformed members of the Scout or Guide Movements can be part of the cast for a Gang Show (i.e. you must be a Cub, Scout, Venturer, Rover, Guide Ranger or warranted Leader). Although it’s called the Hutt Valley Gang Show (because it is performed in Lower Hutt) anyone from the Wellington, Lower Hutt, Rimutaka or Kapiti Coastal Scout Zones or the Pencarrow or Wellington Girl Guiding Regions is eligible to audition be a member of the cast. As it involves quite a few late nights, you must also be 10 1/2 years or older on 19 September 2016.
What Does It Involve?
Gang Show is a lot of fun and you are certain to have a great time and make lots of new friends. However, it is also requires a serious commitment from you in order to make the Show as slick and professional as possible. Rehearsals will be held from 1pm to 5pm every Sunday afternoon from the beginning of June through to the Show on 19-24 September 2016. There will also be two full weekend camps and two full weekend theatre rehearsals during this time. You need to be at all these rehearsals and camps, and of course at the performances themselves which are held in the evenings on the last week of school before the September school holidays.
How Do I Get In To It?
In order to join the cast of Gang Show 2016, you need to audition. This involves you doing a little bit of singing, movement and acting as part of a small group so the Production Team can see where your talent lies! We try to keep the auditions as relaxed as possible and you do not need to prepare an audition piece prior to the audition.
The auditions will be held at the Belmont Scout Hall in allocated time slots on Saturday 7 May 2016 and Sunday 8 May 2016. Your audition will take approximately 90 minutes.
The Belmont Hall is in Norfolk Street, Belmont Domain, Lower Hutt.
